Dr. Sadiya Muhammad has formally assumed duty as the Acting Director of the Primary Health Care (PHC) Department following the statutory retirement of Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam.
The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the headquarters of the Jigawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency in Dutse, in a smooth and dignified transition process marked by a send-forth event in honour of the outgoing director.
The event attracted senior health officials, including the Deputy PHC Director, Alhaji Muhammad Abdullahi Bulangu, programme managers, and other top personnel within the agency.
In his valedictory remarks, Alhaji Hassan Shuaibu Kwalam expressed appreciation to staff of the agency for their support throughout his tenure. He also asked for forgiveness for any shortcomings and urged staff to extend the same level of cooperation and professionalism to his successor.
Participants at the ceremony described the retired director as an exemplary administrator, dedicated mentor, and committed professional whose leadership left a lasting impact on primary health care delivery in the state.
Before her appointment, Dr. Sadiya Muhammad served as Deputy PHC Director, where she coordinated the RNMCHA+ programme and was noted for her competence, diligence, and administrative experience.
In her new role, she is expected to build on existing reforms and strengthen primary health care services across the state.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with staff and stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to supporting the new leadership in advancing healthcare delivery.
