The Director and Principal of Government Girls College (GGC) Dala, Hajia Hauwa Nuhu Wali, has commended the leadership of the Nigerian School Sports Federation (NSSF) for its commitment to the promotion and development of sporting activities across the country.
Hajia Hauwa Wali gave the commendation while receiving executive members of the federation led by its President, Olabisi Joseph, during a courtesy visit to her office in Kano.
The visit formed part of activities lined up for a workshop organised by the NSSF in collaboration with the Nigerian Olympic Committee with support from Olympic Solidarity.
Speaking during the meeting, the principal praised the federation for successfully organising sporting programmes and competitions at both state and national levels despite financial challenges confronting the organisation.
She called on local, state and federal governments, as well as corporate organisations, to support the federation in achieving its objectives of developing sports at the grassroots level.
Hajia Hauwa Wali also pledged the continued support of the college by making its facilities available whenever necessary to complement the federation’s efforts toward the growth of sports nationwide.
She expressed appreciation to the NSSF for selecting Government Girls College Dala to host the workshop among several schools in Kano State, describing sports as an important tool for promoting unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups.
The principal further pledged to attend the closing ceremony of the workshop scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the conference hall of the college.
Earlier, the NSSF President, Olabisi Joseph, appreciated Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Ministry of Education and the management of the college for their support and cooperation toward the success of the programme.
Mrs. Joseph stated that the federation remains committed to complementing the efforts of the National Sports Commission and the Nigerian Olympic Committee in advancing sports development across the country.
Meanwhile, the final of this year’s Inter-Secondary Schools Savannah Conference is scheduled to hold on Tuesday at the indoor sports hall of Sani Abacha Sports Complex, Kofar Mata, Kano.
