The wife of the Governor of Jigawa State, Hajiya Amina Umar Namadi, has sponsored a mass wedding for 300 less-privileged orphans drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state.
The initiative is aimed at supporting vulnerable families and giving orphaned youths a fresh start in life through a structured social welfare programme.
The colourful ceremony, held in Dutse, brought together 150 brides and 150 grooms in what observers describe as one of the largest state-backed mass weddings in recent years.
According to organisers, the event reflects the growing commitment of the Jigawa State Government to social welfare, family stability, and community development.
The newlyweds arrived at the venue in coordinated outfits provided by the office of the governor’s wife, adding colour and symbolism to the ceremony.
The initiative has attracted commendation from residents and community leaders, who described it as a timely intervention aimed at reducing hardship among vulnerable groups and promoting social inclusion across the state.
