The National Deputy Chairman (North West) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hajiya Naja’atu Muhammad, has inaugurated a Caretaker Committee for the party in Kano State, describing the move as a constitutional measure aimed at restoring stability, preserving unity and ensuring the continuity of the party’s activities in the state.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Kano, Hajiya Naja’atu said the constitution of the caretaker committee was not a victory for any group or faction but a responsibility undertaken by the party’s national leadership to safeguard the integrity of the ADC following a leadership vacuum.

Hajiya Najaatu Muhammad said the newly constituted caretaker committee would be chaired by Alhaji Umar Bala.

She explained that the committee’s inauguration was neither a political weapon nor an instrument of exclusion, stressing that it was a constitutional response to an administrative reality and was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.

According to her, every action taken by the national leadership was guided by the need to preserve order, discipline and continuity within the party, noting that political organisations must always have lawful mechanisms for addressing leadership challenges.

Hajiya Naja’atu emphasized that the establishment of the caretaker committee should not be seen as a judgment on the commitment, loyalty or sacrifices of members who had worked tirelessly to build the ADC across Kano State over the years.

She commended party faithful for their resilience and dedication, acknowledging the contributions of members who remained steadfast during challenging periods and assuring them that their sacrifices would not be forgotten.

The National Deputy Chairman charged members of the newly inaugurated caretaker committee to carry out their assignment with fairness, transparency, humility and impartiality, stressing that leadership should be regarded as a trust rather than a privilege.

She said the committee’s mandate was to reconcile aggrieved members, heal divisions, strengthen the party’s structures, prepare for future congresses and ensure that every genuine member of the ADC had a sense of belonging within the party.

Addressing members across the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State, Hajiya Naja’atu urged them to support the caretaker committee and embrace dialogue, reminding them that differences of opinion should never be allowed to create lasting divisions within the party.

She noted that the people of Kano State expected the ADC to provide credible leadership, disciplined organisation and practical solutions to the challenges facing society, rather than remain distracted by internal disagreements.

The ADC North-West Deputy National Chairman also called on stakeholders, elders, women leaders, youth leaders and ward executives to work together in strengthening the party, expanding its membership and mobilising supporters ahead of future political activities.

Kano ADC Endorses Khalil, Rejects External Influence in Party Affairs

She expressed confidence that with unity, discipline and adherence to the party’s constitution, the African Democratic Congress would emerge stronger in Kano State, urging members to place the collective interest of the party above personal ambitions while praying for Allah’s guidance and wisdom for the caretaker committee and the continued progress of the party and the nation.
