The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) has commenced hosting the Annual Meeting and Workshop of the Africa Regional Committee (ARC) of the International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) in Abuja.
The opening sessions featured meetings of the Research and Publicity Technical Committees, followed by the ARC Annual Meeting chaired by the Chairperson of IADI-ARC and Chief Executive Officer of the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda, Ms. Julia Oyet.
The event also attracted the participation of the IADI Secretary-General, Ms. Eva Hüpkes, alongside Chief Executive Officers and senior representatives of deposit insurance agencies from across Africa.
The annual gathering provides a platform for members to deliberate on emerging issues in deposit insurance, exchange experiences and best practices, and strengthen regional cooperation aimed at enhancing financial system stability and protecting depositors across the continent.
The meeting is expected to produce key resolutions that will further deepen collaboration among African deposit insurers and reinforce efforts to build resilient financial safety nets in the region.
