The Niger State Primary Health Care Development Agency (NSPHCDA) has launched a monthly environmental sanitation exercise to promote cleanliness, accountability and a healthy working environment at its headquarters.
The initiative, tagged “Operation Keep Primary Health Care Headquarters Clean,” is part of the Agency’s commitment to supporting the New Niger Agenda of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, which focuses on accountability, good governance, organisational excellence and the “Business Unusual” approach to public service.

Speaking during the inaugural exercise, the Executive Director of the Agency, Dr. Junaidu Inuwa, said the sanitation programme would be held on the last Saturday of every month and is aimed at creating a clean, safe and conducive workplace for staff and visitors.
Dr. Inuwa explained that the exercise would be open to all staff members and personally supervised by the Agency’s management to ensure its sustainability.
He said maintaining a clean environment is a collective responsibility that enhances staff productivity and supports quality healthcare service delivery.

According to him, the initiative demonstrates the Agency’s commitment to the “Business Unusual” philosophy of the Governor’s administration and expressed optimism that other ministries, departments and agencies would adopt similar programmes.
The Executive Director added that the initiative aligns with the vision of the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Murtala Muhammad Bagana, whose reforms are focused on strengthening the state’s healthcare system.
He noted that environmental sanitation remains a critical component of disease prevention and reflects the Agency’s determination to uphold excellence, efficiency and accountability in public service.
In separate remarks, the Director of Community Health Services, Dr. Abdulsam Ahmed, described the initiative as timely and impactful, assuring that staff would fully support its implementation.

The Director of Administration, Mrs. Amina Shaffii, also commended the Executive Director for demonstrating practical leadership, saying the monthly exercise would promote teamwork and strengthen a culture of responsibility among staff.
On behalf of the workforce, the Safe Motherhood Programme Officer and Environmental Officer, Gimba Habib, expressed appreciation to the Agency’s management for introducing the initiative and pledged staff’s commitment to sustaining the sanitation exercise as part of efforts to maintain a cleaner, healthier and more productive workplace.
