The Kano State Sports Commission has expressed its readiness to support an Under-17 football tournament proposed by the Triple R Kannywood For Renewed Hope group for youths across the state.
The initiative was disclosed in a statement signed by Zulfa’at Abubakar Rano, Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Sports Commission.
The group formally submitted its request to the Commission to organise the tournament, which will feature teams from the 44 Local Government Areas of Kano State in a seven-a-side format.
According to the organisers, the competition is aimed at promoting youth development, discovering emerging football talents and providing young players with opportunities to develop their skills and pursue careers in football.
Receiving the delegation in his office, the Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Alhaji Muhammad Tukur Babangida, commended the initiative, describing youth-focused sporting programmes as important platforms for talent discovery and sports development.
Babangida assured the organisers of the Commission’s support and cooperation towards ensuring the successful organisation of the tournament.
He said the competition would provide an opportunity to identify promising young footballers and create pathways for their continued development and advancement in the sport.
The Chairman further reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to collaborating with organisations and other stakeholders to create more opportunities for youths and promote sports development across Kano State.
