The Kano Online Media Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has congratulated Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, on the Governor’s recognition for his support to journalism.
The commendation was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the Chapel’s Congress held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the NUJ Press Centre in Kano, and signed by the Chapel Chairman, Abubakar Abdulkadir Dangambo, and Assistant Secretary, Sunusi A. Kofar Na’isa.

The Congress resolved to strengthen professional journalism, improve members’ welfare, promote financial sustainability and enhance unity among online journalists in the state.
It urged members to uphold the NUJ Code of Ethics, particularly when reporting political activities and elections, stressing the need for accuracy, fairness, balance and responsibility in news reporting.

The Chapel also approved the establishment of a seven-member Revenue Drive Committee to enhance its financial sustainability.
It further approved monthly contributions by members and the introduction of a rate-card system for advertisement-related activities.

The Congress also resolved to organise a two-year anniversary celebration of the Chapel.
It agreed to engage the NUJ State Council on the issuance of identification cards to members and called on members to participate actively in Chapel activities.
