The Ghanaian Government has pledged its support for the successful hosting of the 2026 Africa Media Forum and Awards scheduled to take place in the country.
The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, gave the assurance when a delegation from the African Media Network for the Promotion of Health and Environment, REMAPSEN, paid a courtesy visit to him.
The delegation, led by the REMAPSEN Country Coordinator, Emefa Atiamoah Eli, formally introduced the network to the Minister and discussed possible areas of collaboration ahead of the forum.
The forum, scheduled for the second week of October 2026, is expected to bring together more than 200 journalists, media practitioners and other stakeholders from across Africa.
Participants are expected to deliberate on critical issues relating to health, environmental and science reporting, as well as the role of the media in advancing development across the continent.
During the meeting, the REMAPSEN delegation highlighted the importance of strengthening media advocacy and promoting responsible journalism on critical development challenges affecting African countries.

The delegation also discussed the need for greater collaboration among journalists and media organisations in promoting accurate and evidence-based reporting on health, environment and science.
Mr George expressed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote media development, digital innovation and regional collaboration.
He said the forum would provide an important platform for knowledge sharing, networking and capacity building among African journalists.
The Minister noted that stronger collaboration among media practitioners could contribute to improved public awareness and more effective communication on critical development issues.
The REMAPSEN Media Forum and Awards is designed to recognise excellence in journalism while encouraging stronger media engagement in health, environmental and science communication across Africa.

The 2026 forum and awards are expected to provide journalists and other stakeholders with opportunities to exchange experiences, build professional networks and strengthen reporting on issues affecting communities across the continent.
