The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Kano State Chapter, in collaboration with KALAMED, has organised a Maulud celebration featuring religious lectures and prayers, with a call on Muslims to emulate the exemplary character and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The programme brought together women journalists, religious figures, veteran journalists and other distinguished personalities to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings and their relevance to contemporary society.

Speaking at the event, the Commander of the Kano State Hisbah Board Women’s Wing, Dr Khadija Sagir, urged parents to instil in their children love for Prophet Muhammad (SAW), his Sunnah and noble character.
Dr Sagir emphasised the importance of giving children adequate love, attention and guidance, while encouraging parents to build strong and trusting relationships with them.
She noted that proper parenting and moral upbringing could help protect young people from social vices, including thuggery, drug abuse and criminality.
The Chairperson of NAWOJ Kano State Chapter, Sayyida Bahijja Kabara, said the association organised the programme to remind its members and the wider society of the importance of upholding the moral teachings and exemplary conduct of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
She urged parents to combine love, discipline and proper guidance in raising their children, stressing that responsible parenting was essential to producing responsible citizens and positive ambassadors of society.

Sayyida Bahijja also called on journalists to uphold professionalism, integrity and good character in the discharge of their duties.
She urged members of the profession to use their platforms to promote peace, unity and positive values within society.
Also speaking, Sayyida Zainab Mu’azzam Kabara encouraged journalists to apply the lessons from the religious lectures in their personal and professional lives and emulate the Prophet and his companions in their conduct and service.
Other speakers, including Hajiya Ummulkhairi Abubakar Chigari and Ummulkhairi Dahiru Umar Sorondinki, emphasised the importance of moral upbringing, responsible parenting and adherence to sound societal values.
The event was attended by Hajiya Rabi Gwadabawa, Vice President, Zone A, NAWOJ, who travelled from Sokoto State for the occasion.
Hajiya Rabi commended NAWOJ Kano for organising the programme, describing such initiatives as important platforms for promoting unity, moral development and responsible citizenship.

Senior veteran women journalists, members of NAWOJ and other distinguished personalities also attended the celebration.
The programme ended with prayers for lasting peace, unity and security in Kano State and Nigeria, as well as divine guidance and protection for the nation and its citizens.
