    AGILE 2nd Chance Achieves Milestone with 5,000 Girls Re-enrolled in Kano

    Kano, Nigeria – The Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Second Chance education has successfully re-enrolled 5,000 out-of-school girls in Kano State back into the educational system.

    This significant milestone was announced by Dr. Auwal Halilu, Technical Assistant for the AGILE Second Chance Programme.

    The program aims to provide educational opportunities for out-of-school girls, enhancing their chances of a brighter future and contributing to the overall development of the region.

    According to Dr. Auwal with the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, the programme targets to return 10,000 out-of-school girls to school each quarter, with an ambitious goal of reaching at least 40,000 girls by the end of 2025.

    He emphasized the importance of the refresher training, noting that it aligns with the objectives and ideals of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to see education prosper in Kano State.

    “In AGILE Second Chance, we see the need to set a target, and by 2025, we aim to have young girls aged 15 to 25 returned to school,”

    Dr. Halilu expressed the ambitious goal of returning ten thousand out-of-school girls to school each quarter, aiming to have at least 40,000 girls back in school by the end of 2025

    “The training focused on introducing enumerators to modern techniques, respecting clients, and cultural sensitivity”

    The AGILE second chance education component 2.2C coordinator Hajiya Jamila Ibrahim, emphasized the importance of motivating and encouraging the enumerators to put in more effort.

    “The programme’s success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of the AGILE Second Chance Programme, the Kano State Government, and other stakeholders”

    Some of the enumerators who spoke to newsmen, Ahmed Sani Saye and Hadiza Ibrahim described the training as apt.

    “Second Chance is a great opportunity to support the girl child. We are ready and understand what is supposed to be done.”

    The AGILE Second Chance Programme is part of a larger initiative to improve secondary education opportunities for adolescent girls in Nigeria. By providing educational opportunities and support, the programme aims to empower out-of-school girls and contribute to the region’s overall development
