The Kano State Zero Dose Learning Hub ZDLH Community of Practice (CoP) on immunization budget accountability has paid an advocacy visit to Zakariyya Alhassan Ishaq, Chairman of the Kano State Assembly House Committee on Health, and Aminu Sa’ad Ungogo, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation.
During the visit, the CoP presented the draft 2024 immunization budget accountability scorecard, developed by the Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) and African Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET) consortium with funding from GAVI.
ZDLH CoP Urges Parents in Sokoto to Prioritize Child Immunization
The draft scorecard recorded data on health budget, health financing and accountability, service delivery and transparency, serving as a tool for evidence-based advocacy.
It also offered key recommendations for action by the government and civil society organizations (CSOs).
The follow up advocacy visit, led by AHBN ZDLH State Focal Hon. Muhammad Usman and Dr. Musa Muhammad Bellosought the lawmakers’ support to facilitate a meeting between CoP members and the honorable members representing Kumbotso and Sumaila Local Government Areas, where the ZDLH project is being implemented.

In their separate remarks, the two lawmakers reiterated their commitment to supporting the ZDLH project in Kano and reducing the burden of zero-dose children in the state.
