The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Anuma Ogbonaya Nnia, has reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to the full implementation of President Bola Tinubu’s reforms on policing, aimed at enhancing professionalism and service delivery across the country.

Dr. Nnia made the pledge in Abuja during a meeting with a delegation from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) led by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Nemi Edwin. The meeting centered on the proposed new scheme of service for the Police.

The Permanent Secretary stressed that the Ministry would continue to work closely with the Police leadership to drive reforms that will improve operational efficiency, boost morale, and strengthen accountability within the Force.

“The Ministry of Police Affairs is fully committed to working hand-in-hand with the Nigeria Police Force and other stakeholders by engaging in open dialogue, sharing perspectives, and collectively addressing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” Dr. Nnia said. “Through regular consultations and a unified approach, we can strengthen the Nigeria Police Force and enhance its capacity to serve and protect all citizens.”

Key issues discussed at the meeting included police welfare, pension reform, training and capacity building, promotion processes, discipline, accountability, and the introduction of a modern Performance Management System (PMS).

AIG Nemi Edwin, while appreciating the Ministry’s support, noted that the successful implementation of the proposed scheme of service would not be possible without the Ministry’s active involvement. He praised the Permanent Secretary’s leadership and called for continued collaboration in reviewing the new framework.
