The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has emerged as one of the major winners at the 15th edition of the Nigeria Aviation (NIGAV) Awards, held in Lagos.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Capt. Chris Ona Najomo, received the Aviation Agency CEO of the Year Award as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award, in recognition of his contributions to aviation safety, regulatory excellence, and industry development in Nigeria.
Also honoured at the event was the NCAA Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, who won the Aviation Agency Director Award for his role in strengthening consumer protection and enhancing stakeholder engagement.
Similarly, the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. (Mrs.) Anastasia Gbem, was presented with a special recognition award for her contributions to leadership and administrative excellence within the aviation sector.
The Authority also secured multiple institutional awards, including recognition for digital innovation through its SMS Pro platform, as well as honours for excellence in consumer protection, customer service delivery, passenger front desk information services, and ease of doing business.
Reacting to the recognitions, Capt. Najomo commended the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN), for his role in driving reforms and fostering an enabling environment for growth in the aviation industry.
He also expressed appreciation to the organisers, FCI International Limited, noting that the awards reflect the collective efforts of NCAA management and staff, while reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to global best practices in safety, security, economic viability, and consumer protection.
In a goodwill message delivered on his behalf by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Mahmud Adam Kambari, FCNA, the Minister highlighted ongoing reforms and investments in infrastructure, policy direction, and institutional strengthening aimed at repositioning the aviation sector as a key driver of economic and national development.
