Today, October 5, 2024, marks World Teachers Day, a global celebration honoring the invaluable contributions of teachers.
The Executive Director of Adolescent Health and Information Projects AHIP Hajiya Mairo Bello has issued a timely call to action, urging governments to prioritize teachers’ welfare through enhanced salaries and allowances, recognizing them as the backbone of meaningful development.

She stressed that, this special day, established in 1994, commemorates the signing of the 1966 UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, which sets standards for education personnel policy, recruitment, training, employment, and working conditions.
To elevate education to global standard Hajiya Mairo emphasizes the importance of training and retraining teachers.

She encourages teachers to rededicate themselves to their duties, assuring them that their rewards come from God.
