Regina Akume, wife of George Akume, has secured the House of Representatives ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency in Benue State.
Regina Akume, 71, emerged victorious during the APC primary election conducted on Saturday.
The results were announced on Sunday in Makurdi by Sabiu Mahuta, chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee in Benue State.
Also securing victory was Blessing Onuh, daughter of David Mark and current national chairman of the African Democratic Congress.
Blessing Onuh won the APC primary for the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, defeating three other aspirants to secure the party’s ticket for another term in the House of Representatives.
In other results announced by the party, Ojotu Ojema emerged as the APC candidate for the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, while Terfa Ikper won the Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency ticket.
Gideon Inyom secured victory in the Buruku Federal Constituency primary, while Terhemba Nongo won the Gwer East/Gwer West Federal Constituency ticket.
Similarly, Kohol Iormem clinched the APC ticket for the Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency.
For the Katsina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency, Solomon Wombo emerged as the APC candidate, while Livinus Tsar won the Vandeikya/Konshisha Federal Constituency primary.
Also, Peter Ogbodo secured the Oju/Obi Federal Constituency ticket, while Anthony Agom won the Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency primary.
The APC primaries in Benue State are part of ongoing preparations by political parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
