Preparations are in full swing for the maiden edition of Bayero University Kano’s (BUK) inter-departmental sports competition, scheduled to kick off on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at the university’s FIFA-standard pitch.
According to the university’s Director of Sports, Professor Rabiu Muhammad, the event aims to uncover hidden talents and skillful athletes for future national and international engagements.
Professor Muhammad explained that the competition seeks to,Identify and recruit talented athletes for the university’s sports teams,Promote unity and teamwork among departments.
“Foster a spirit of healthy competition and sportsmanship and Develop the university’s sports infrastructure and programs”
He pointed out that, the university management, led by Vice Chancellor Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has made significant efforts to ensure the success of the competition.
Professor Muhammad assured that the sports directory is working tirelessly to guarantee a colorful and hitch-free event.
The BUK sports director urged participants to extend maximum support and cooperation to the directory to achieve the set targets.
He also promised free and fair officiating throughout the competition.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, and other top university officials are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
With its rich sporting history, BUK is poised to discover new talents and promote campus unity through this inaugural inter-departmental sports competition.
