The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC has declared a former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, wanted for offences relating to economic and financial crimes.
This was contained in a notice posted on the commission’s official Facebook page on Thursday.

“Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, is wanted by the EFCC for offences relating to economic and financial crimes to the tune of N80.2 bn.
“Anybody with information as to his whereabouts should report immediately to the commission or the nearest police station,” the notice read.
Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, was absent in court on Thursday, forcing Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to adjourn a suit filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against him.

Justice Nwite adjourned the case until April 23.
At the resumed sitting, Counsel for the EFCC, Kemi Phinro, told the court that Mr Bello was being protected by someone with immunity, hence his absence from the proceedings.
The Counsel for the EFCC added that the anti-graft agency might seek the help of the military to fish him out.
Reacting, Abdulwahab Muhammed, counsel to Mr Bello, told the court that his client was in his state when operatives of the EFCC besieged his Abuja residence.
