In a bold move to revitalize Kano State’s education sector, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has launched the distribution of instructional materials worth millions of naira to public schools. This initiative is part of the state’s educational recovery policy.
Governor Yusuf expressed regret over the deteriorating infrastructure, high number of out-of-school children, and closure of boarding schools. He attributed these issues to the poor management of public policy on education by the past administration.
The governor pledged to address these challenges head-on, declaring a State of Emergency in Education to revamp the system. His administration has embarked on massive rehabilitation of schools, construction of new classrooms, and production of hundreds of thousands of furniture pieces for pupils.
To enhance teaching and learning, the distributed instructional materials include essential items such as chalk, record workbooks, exercise books, class registers, student report sheets, lesson observation books, and copies of the new National Anthem.
Specifically, the materials distributed comprise 120,000 cartons of chalk, 97,532 record workbooks, 93,600 exercise books, 199,234 class registers, 350,000 student report sheets, 351,000 lesson observation books, and 30,000 copies of the new National Anthem.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that education is the bedrock of development and providing necessary resources for its growth is an investment in the future. He called on parents and stakeholders to partner with the administration to rebuild, reenergize, and ensure children return to schools.
The governor’s efforts aim to restore the lost glory of quality education in Kano State. By providing conducive learning environments and essential resources, the administration seeks to improve education outcomes and empower future generations.
