Visionary leadership, inspiring others to work through motivation, zeal and plans, is always guidance to good governance, especially when the issue of security is at stake.
Kano witnessed attacks from the bandits supposedly infiltrating from Katsina to neighbouring towns and villages wreaking havoc and creating fear in the minds of people around the border.
Kano Assembly Demands Urgent Action Over Rising Insecurity in Tsanyawa, Bagwai
Being conscious of anything that affects people of the State, especially on security matters, the Kano State governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has visited these border villages and towns to assess the situation and boost the morale of the troops, as well as a condolence and sympathy visit to the families affected.
The visit of the governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, to Yankamaye, in Tsanyawa local government, and Faruruwa and Tsaure in Shanono local government areas, comprises service chiefs in the State, the Army Command, Air Force, and Navy, including, Police Commissioner and Director of the State Security Service, including other paramilitary personnel; is commendable.
It will increase the high spirit of the troops, and the residents will feel a sense of belonging, hence reciprocate through sharing of intelligence gathering with the troops.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, visibly disturbed with the situation told the troops that the government will do everything possible to support them.
“We are aware that they have been attacking innocent communities, especially here in Tsanyawa and Shanono local government areas. Innocent lives were taken away, and also innocent people were sent to the bush,” Alhaji Abba Kabi Yusuf, quoted as saying during the visit.
More troops would be deployed, and more supplies of military hardware would be sent to the base. The most important message from the governor is that the troops should work with communities, get relevant intelligence information and be security conscious.
Saudi-Based Philanthropist Backs Kano Vigilantes With Security Equipment
“This type of insecurity in Kano State is something new; it is something alien that has just been observed in the state, and the government is doing its best to address the situation with the cooperation of the security agencies,“ the governor stated.
Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, called on the people of the communities in Kano state and the neighbouring communities from Katsina State to give contribution to the fight against the banditry through intelligence sharing.
Intelligence gathering is one of the most important wings in the fight against banditry and any form of guerilla fight or war.
In another boost, the Kano state governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has promised to assist the Joint Task Force in all ramifications, including the supply of weapons and deploying more troops, and the Federal Government will surely respond to the plea.
From the part of the State government, the governor is willing to procure drones to be deployed to the areas to help the troops monitor and get the locations for the bandits and their whereabouts within the areas of jurisdictions.
The deployment of the drones would boost the technological advancement of the fight and reduce the chances of the bandits penetrating or sneaking into Kano from all angles, as all their movements would be monitored.
Similarly, the government has procured and distributed vehicles, i.e Hilux and Motorcycles, to the Joint Task Force to keep them mobile for patrol and surveillance, as well as pursuing bandits anywhere found around the areas of coverage.
No fewer than 10 Vehicles and 50 motorcycles were donated to the Joint Task Force (JTF). This will bolster the security operations along the border villages and towns. These efforts will also strengthen surveillance and patrols in the troubled areas.
Furthermore, trenches along the neighbouring villages are being excavated by the Kano state government with immediate effect. This shows the seriousness of the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf in responding to the banditry and kidnappings along the Katsina border.
Above all, the administration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has organised a one-day prayer session that gathered thousands of Islamic clerics and recited the Holy Qur’an. About four thousand four hundred and forty-four (4,444) Complete Holy Qur’an was recited.
On that day, the occasion attracted all Islamic sects and was united in the prayers seeking Allah’s intervention to secure Kano, the most populous State. It is important to note that Kano is an ancient town and a densely populated commercial hub in the entire north; destabilising the state is like destabilising the whole north and some countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
The governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, with all the executive council members and appointees were happy with the turnout of the reciters.
Almost all the Islamic clerics who spoke at the occasion emphasised devotion to God and urged the residents to continue praying individually.
The concern of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Kano state and its people, is overwhelming. He is firm on securing Kano more, deploying all arsenals to succeed. God willing, Kano will be safer and more secure than ever.
