The management of Igbinedion Education Centre has expelled two students after a viral video showed them bullying and physically assaulting another student.
In the video, the students were seen in a classroom, where the victim was flogged, knocked to the ground, kicked in the stomach, and stamped on the head.
The school confirmed that it had launched an immediate investigation after the video surfaced online and took disciplinary action against the students involved.
“We are aware of a video currently circulating online showing a serious incident of bullying and physical assault involving students at the school,” the statement said.
“The behaviour shown in the video is deeply disturbing and stands in direct violation of the values and standards we uphold. The school maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, cultism, intimidation, harassment, and any form of violence.
“Following an immediate investigation, the students responsible have been EXPELLED from the school with immediate effect. Such conduct will never be tolerated within our school community.”
The school added that the incident had been reported to the relevant authorities and that it was cooperating fully, noting that the students involved are minors.
It also stated that support is being provided to the affected student while the institution continues to engage with the families concerned.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Edo State Police Command, Eno Ikoedem, urged the victim and his parents to come forward and lay a formal complaint so that an investigation can commence into the matter.
