The Kaduna State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES) has commenced the distribution of 38 milking machines to pastoralist communities and small- and medium-scale dairy farmers across the state.
The intervention is aimed at improving milk production, milking efficiency and hygienic milk handling among beneficiaries.

The distribution follows a series of capacity-building sessions where beneficiaries were trained on improved milk production practices, hygienic handling of milk, and the proper operation and maintenance of the milking machines.
The training is expected to enable farmers to effectively integrate the equipment into their daily dairy operations while maintaining recommended hygiene standards.
The beneficiaries are expected to benefit from reduced manual effort and improved efficiency during the milking process.

The machines could also help promote safer and more hygienic milk collection when properly operated, cleaned and maintained, thereby supporting milk quality from the farm to the consumer.
The intervention is part of efforts by Kaduna LPRES to link practical training with access to appropriate equipment for livestock farmers.
It is also designed to strengthen the dairy value chain and contribute to improved livelihoods among pastoralist communities and small- and medium-scale farmers in the state.

With the distribution now underway, beneficiaries have been encouraged to apply the hygiene practices acquired during the training and ensure proper maintenance of the equipment.
