The Kano State Hisbah Board says it has received a total of 12,446 complaints between January and December 2025.
The Deputy Commander General of the board, Sheikh Mujahid Aminudeen Abubakar, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano.
According to him, out of the total complaints received, 1,908 cases were resolved amicably, while 4,246 cases were referred to the courts for legal action.
Sheikh Mujahid explained that the Hisbah Board prioritises alternative dispute resolution (ADR), especially in societal and family-related cases, to promote peace and understanding within communities.
Speaking on the issue of denial of family responsibilities, the Deputy Commander General revealed that a total of ₦145,406,409 was recovered under it’s debt and child support initiative within the period under review.
He further stated that the board carried out nine major operations across the state and arrested 132 suspects in the 44 local government areas of Kano State.
Sheikh Mujahid also disclosed that records from the Hisbah office, show that 93,231 male and female visitors were received by the board between January and December 2025.
He urged residents of the state to continue to live in peace and harmony and encouraged the public to report any suspicious persons or activities to the relevant authorities.
The Deputy Commander General reiterated the Hisbah Board’s commitment to working tirelessly to ensure Kano State remains free from all forms of social vices.
