The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has coordinated an emergency response to a fire incident at a restaurant located near the Federal Ministry of Power Headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, NEMA said the incident occurred on February 17, 2026, and was reported to its Abuja Operations Office at about 2:36 p.m.
The agency said it immediately activated emergency response stakeholders, including the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service, and deployed its search-and-rescue and response teams to the scene. Additional personnel from NEMA Headquarters were also mobilised to reinforce ongoing efforts.
According to the agency, responders worked in coordination to support firefighting operations, secure the area, and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and critical infrastructure.
NEMA noted that the swift and collaborative response by all agencies involved helped to successfully contain the fire and avert further damage.
“The fire was successfully contained, and the operation was concluded at about 5:45 p.m.,” the agency stated.
No casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report, while the cause of the fire was yet to be officially determined.
NEMA reiterated its commitment to rapid emergency response and urged members of the public to promptly report fire incidents and other emergencies to relevant authorities to prevent escalation.
