The President of the Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), Olabisi Joseph, alongside members of the federation’s executive council, has expressed deep condolences to the government and people of Kano State over the death of veteran basketball coach, Yakubu.
In a condolence message, the federation described the late coach as a dedicated sportsman whose passion, love, and commitment significantly contributed to the development of basketball in Kano State and Nigeria at large.
The NSSF noted that Coach Yakubu played a vital role in nurturing grassroots basketball, emphasising that his legacy would not be forgotten.
“During his lifetime, he was a hardworking and straightforward individual who gave his best to the growth of the game,” the statement read.
The message was conveyed to the bereaved family, government, and people of Kano State through the National Public Relations Officer of the federation, Sagiru Sani Dandango.
The federation also extended its sympathies to the Kano State Ministry of Education and young athletes across the state, urging them to accept the loss as an act of Almighty Allah and to pray for the late coach’s eternal rest.
