Students of Bayero University Kano (BUK) have been assured that the delay in the disbursement of December upkeep allowances under the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is being addressed, with payments expected to commence within the coming week.
In an official notice issued by student representatives, the delay was attributed to a difference in academic sessions between the university and NELFUND. While NELFUND has transitioned to the 2025/2026 academic session, BUK is still operating under the 2024/2025 session.
The management of Bayero University Kano has formally notified NELFUND of the situation through an official correspondence. An extension letter was also submitted to further clarify and confirm the institution’s current academic status.
According to the statement, NELFUND has acknowledged receipt of the letters and is working to resolve the issue promptly to enable the release of both December and January upkeep payments.
Students have been urged to remain calm and patient, as all necessary administrative steps have been taken to ensure that the disbursement process begins without further delay.
The notice, signed by Yusuf Ibrahim Muhammad (De Minister) for Mohammed Isah Qaari, NELFUND Ambassador, expressed appreciation to students for their understanding and assured them that the matter is receiving urgent attention.
