Troops of the Nigerian Army under 1 Division / Sector 1, Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully foiled an armed robbery attempt along the Abuja–Kaduna Highway, preventing harm to commuters and restoring calm to the area.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, when troops on routine patrol received a distress call reporting an ongoing armed robbery at Nasarawan Doka.
Acting swiftly on the information, the soldiers mobilised to the scene and engaged the criminals, effectively neutralising the threat.
During the operation, one suspect identified as Kabiru Zayyanu was arrested after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. He was promptly evacuated to Doka General Hospital, where he received first aid. Other members of the gang fled the area.
Troops carried out a hot pursuit of the fleeing suspects, but no further contact was made. The Army confirmed that no casualties or abductions were recorded during the operation.
The arrested suspect will be handed over to the appropriate security agency upon the completion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army stated that the security situation in the area remains calm, with troops maintaining a strong presence to dominate the environment and ensure continued safety along the highway.
Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of lives and property, the Nigerian Army urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
