The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to partnering with the South South Development Commission (SSDC) to accelerate digital transformation and inclusive development across the region.
Inuwa gave the assurance while receiving the Managing Director of the SSDC, Ms. Usoro Akpabio, during a courtesy visit.
The NITDA boss noted that the Commission’s objectives align closely with the Agency’s strategic roadmap, emphasizing that digital literacy and talent development remain the bedrock of Nigeria’s digital economy.
He reiterated the national target of achieving 95 percent digital literacy by 2030, with an interim milestone of 70 percent by 2027.
Highlighting NITDA’s ongoing interventions, Inuwa said the Agency is actively promoting digital skills development among students, civil servants, members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and young people across the country.
He stressed that technology is no longer a standalone sector but a critical enabler across key areas of the economy, including energy, agriculture, finance, security, and governance.
The Director General also underscored the need to strengthen cybersecurity, build trust in digital platforms, revitalize existing ICT infrastructure, and foster innovation and startup ecosystems capable of creating jobs and addressing local challenges.
Assuring the SSDC of NITDA’s support, Inuwa emphasized that collaboration, coordination, and shared implementation frameworks are vital to achieving inclusive digital transformation.
“No institution can succeed in isolation,” he said, pledging that NITDA would work closely with the Commission to deliver sustainable, people-centered digital development across the South South region.
