Galien Africa, in partnership with the Galien Foundation, has announced the opening of applications for the sixth edition of the Prix Galien Africa, a prestigious award celebrating excellence and innovation in healthcare and pharmaceutical sciences across Africa.
According to the organizers, applications are now open and must be submitted electronically through the official website: Prix Galien Africa Official Website
For the past five years, the Prix Galien Africa has recognized researchers, institutions, and pharmaceutical companies in both the public and private sectors that have developed impactful initiatives, pharmaceutical products, biotechnological innovations, phytotherapy solutions, diagnostic tools, medical devices, and digital health technologies introduced to the African market.
The competition features four award categories:
Best Pharmaceutical Product
Best Traditherapy Product
Best Biotechnology Product
Best Medical Technology or Digital Solution, including medical devices, diagnostics, telemedicine, e-health platforms, and patient record systems
Each category winner will receive a grant of 20 million CFA francs, equivalent to approximately 30,000 US dollars.
Organizers said the awards aim to honor highly promising products, services, and initiatives that contribute to innovative discoveries and therapies benefiting human, animal, and environmental health.
They noted that entries will be evaluated primarily on two key criteria: innovation or scientific discovery, and impact on the African continent.
Since 2018, the Galien Forum Africa has been hosted in Dakar as a platform for scientific dialogue and collaboration among African and global healthcare stakeholders.
The ninth edition of the forum, which will host the sixth Prix Galien Africa awards ceremony, is scheduled to hold from December 8 to 11, 2026, under the theme: “Mental Health in Africa: Equity and Integration in Primary Healthcare – Where Do We Stand?”
The forum is expected to bring together Nobel Prize winners, political leaders, researchers, students, healthcare professionals, innovators, investors, international organizations, civil society actors, and private sector stakeholders to discuss healthcare priorities and innovations shaping the continent.
Interested applicants can access the application form online through the official portal.
