GoGreen has highlighted the importance of empowering women in agriculture as a key driver of sustainable development during the graduation ceremony of the Women in Poultry Initiative (WiPi) organised by Vet Konect.
The organisation said equipping women with agricultural knowledge, practical skills and entrepreneurial opportunities improves household incomes, strengthens food security, enhances community resilience and promotes inclusive economic growth.
The organisation noted that women remain central to building sustainable agricultural value chains and developing climate-resilient communities capable of addressing emerging environmental and socioeconomic challenges.
The Women in Poultry Initiative (WiPi), an intervention by Vet Konect, is designed to equip women with practical poultry production skills, mentorship, and business development opportunities that support sustainable livelihoods.
According to the organisers, the programme has empowered participants with the technical knowledge, confidence, and entrepreneurial capacity required to establish and expand successful poultry enterprises while contributing to local food systems and economic development.
GoGreen reiterated its commitment to supporting initiatives that expand opportunities for women in agriculture, stressing that investing in women’s empowerment is key to achieving sustainable development, strengthening rural economies, and building resilient communities.
