The Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones, SAPZ, Programme in Kano State has commenced the second phase of its Sustainable Land Development Initiative for landless youths and women.
The two-day capacity-building training, was designed to equip selected beneficiaries with skills for climate-resilient and nutrition-sensitive agricultural production.
The training focused on practical approaches to climate-smart agriculture, sustainable land management, nutrition-sensitive farming practices, improved production techniques and agribusiness development.
Participants were also introduced to strategies for strengthening resilience to the impacts of climate change and improving the sustainability and profitability of agricultural enterprises.
The initiative is part of SAPZ Kano’s efforts to empower youths and women, promote sustainable livelihoods and strengthen food and nutrition security through inclusive agricultural development.
Through the programme, beneficiaries are being supported with knowledge and practical skills to make productive use of agricultural land and transform farming activities into sustainable agribusiness ventures.
The intervention is also expected to contribute to the development of a new generation of resilient young farmers and women agripreneurs capable of contributing to Kano State’s agricultural transformation and food systems.
The programme emphasises the importance of linking land access with knowledge and skills, enabling beneficiaries to move from agricultural production towards sustainable livelihoods and market-oriented enterprises.
SAPZ Kano said the initiative highlights its commitment to creating opportunities for vulnerable groups while promoting climate resilience, food security and inclusive growth in the agricultural sector.
