The Nigerian Association of Animal Health and Husbandry Technologists (NAAHHT) was represented at the 9th All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture (AACAA), held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
The conference, organised by the All Africa Society of Animal Production (AASAP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development (FMLD), International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Heifer International, Ceva and other partners, was themed “Repositioning Animal Agriculture for Africa’s Food Security and Global Competitiveness.”

FG Partners MACBAN to Modernise Livestock Production
The event brought together stakeholders in animal agriculture from across Africa and beyond, including researchers, academics, organised farmers, animal scientists, veterinary doctors, animal health technologists, agro-allied companies and policymakers.
Discussions at the conference focused on food security, animal agriculture, precision farming, agro-investment, processing, value chains, One Health, gender and other emerging issues affecting the livestock sector.
NAAHHT’s National President and General Secretary were among the association’s representatives at the conference, alongside several members who participated from different parts of Nigeria.

The association said the conference provided participants with exposure to modern techniques and technologies for improving animal production and strengthening Africa’s livestock sector.
It also provided an opportunity for NAAHHT members to establish professional contacts, network with stakeholders and explore partnerships that could contribute to the development of the association and the wider animal health sector.
NAAHHT said the engagements would also help mobilise support and partnerships for its forthcoming national conference, NAAHHT Osun 2026.
The five-day conference concluded on August 13 with a dinner and award ceremony, while Tanzania was announced as the host of the 10th All Africa Conference on Animal Agriculture.

NAAHHT described the Abuja conference as a significant international gathering that provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional networking and collaboration towards strengthening animal agriculture and food security across Africa.
