    Governor Yusuf Reaffirms Independence of Kano PCACC

    On December 18, 2024, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to the independence of the State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission during the 2024 International Anti-Corruption Day celebration held at the Coronation Hall, Government House, Kano.

    Governor Yusuf emphasized his administration’s hands-off approach, ensuring the commission operates without interference.

    “My administration has given the State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission a free hand to carry out its duties without fear, favor, or interference,” he declared.

    The governor also described corruption as a “cancer” that undermines trust, weakens institutions, and hampers progress.

    Highlighting new anti-corruption measures, Governor Yusuf unveiled initiatives such as the Central Criminal Register Software, the Kano Integrated Governance and Accountability System (KIGAS), and the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Action Plan for 2024–2026.

    He praised the commission’s leadership under Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado for its professionalism and dedication, including its role in drafting the proposed Crime Bill to ensure transparent management of recovered assets.

    Kano’s Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, reaffirmed that the commission has thrived due to the administration’s full support and non-interference.

    Meanwhile, Barr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin-Gado expressed gratitude for the governor’s commitment, noting that the event was rescheduled to align with the governor’s agenda for good governance.

    Governor Yusuf’s address served as a rallying call for collective action against corruption, urging all stakeholders to join efforts in building a transparent and accountable society.
