Jigawa state government has offered support to an assaulted 10 year old Khadija Muhammed from Galamawa community in Dutse, Jigawa state, who was assaulted about five months ago.

This was disclosed by the Jigawa State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa made this known in an interview with newsmen on Wednesday in Dutse.
He said that Gov. Umar Namadi, was dumbfounded and worried when he received the information on the girl’s condition.

According to him, “Governor Umar Namadi, has ordered that proactive measures must be taken to support little Khadija and her family during the trying period.
“We have confirmation from the Attorney General of the state, that the perpetrator was arrested and is presently on remand in prison.

“His Excellency the Governor, has ordered that the best medical care and rehabilitation be arranged for her as soon as possible,” The Commissioner said.
He added that Namadi, has also ordered for the re-enrollment of Ms Muhammed back to school as soon as she recovers, to obtain free education.

To Muhammed’s family, the Governor has ordered the Ministry of Women Affairs, to secure a different accommodation for her family, to enable improvement of her psychological recovery.
Mr Sagir however, pledged the administration’s commitment to the total eradication of Gender Based Violence in Jigawa, thus supporting victims of sexual assault and ensuring their well-being.

He further appealed to victims of rape and their families, to report cases to appropriate authorities for rapid response, instead of resorting to social media.
The Commissioner further warned perpetrators of Gender Violence to desist from the act, as the administration has set aside strict measures for such acts.

It was gathered that Khadija Muhammed 10 years of Galamawa area of Jigawa state, was assaulted sometimes in July.
The suspect was arrested and sent to jail, while Khadija is on hospital admission in Kano, receiving medical care and rehabilitation.
