A team from the C19 RSSH Kano State Advocacy Group on AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria (ATM), which is implemented under the community component by the Association for Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunisation, and Nutrition (ACOMIN), has paid an advocacy visit to the Kano State Hisbah Board.
The visit aimed to seek collaboration and strengthen efforts in addressing cases of gender-based violence (GBV) across the state.

The delegation comprised the C19 RSSH State Programs Officer, Huzaifa Ibrahim; ACOMIN State Chair, Dr Nura Haladu; TB Network State Chair, Sunusi Hashim; and NEPWHAN , Nuhu Tela.
Speaking during the visit, Dr Haladu explained that the C19 RSSH project was designed to build the capacity of health facilities, community networks, and frontline volunteers to improve health outcomes.
He noted that the ATM coalition has been engaging with health facilities on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria interventions, while also escalating unresolved challenges to relevant authorities.

Dr Haladu further highlighted that the project includes a GBV response component, adding that several GBV cases reported during their last review meeting were referred to the Hisbah Board for action.
“We engaged the Hisbah Board to have a clear understanding of the number of GBV cases they receive and how they mitigate such issues,” he stated.
Responding, the Hisbah GBV Focal Person, Malam Isma’il Muhammad Wudilawa, commended the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed the board’s commitment to combating gender-based violence in Kano State.
He noted that the Hisbah Board has been at the forefront of mediating GBV-related issues and addressing societal vices, assuring that their doors remain open for collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
“Our agency is fully committed to working with the C19 RSSH project and other partners to ensure Kano becomes free from gender-based violence,” he assured.
