Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has assured the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, of his administration’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with the institute in the areas of security, cultural promotion and national development.
Governor Idris gave the assurance when he received participants of Senior Executive Course 48 (SEC 48) of NIPSS, who visited him at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, as part of their study tour of the state.
The Governor welcomed the delegation and said Kebbi remained open to partnerships with institutions committed to advancing national development.
He encouraged the participants to visit Zuru and Yauri to gain firsthand knowledge of the state’s cultural diversity and heritage.
Governor Idris highlighted some of Kebbi’s major cultural festivals, including the internationally recognised Argungu Fishing Festival, Uhola Cultural Festival in Zuru, Regatta Festival in Yauri, and Hutogo Festival in the Gwandu Emirate.
He described the festivals as important expressions of the state’s rich cultural traditions and heritage.
The Governor also approved several requests presented by the NIPSS delegation, including the construction of a residential flat at the institute’s campus in Kuru and financial support towards enhancing the security of the institution.
He further approved other assistance requested by the delegation and commended NIPSS for its credibility, integrity and high standards, describing it as one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions for policy and strategic studies.
Earlier, the Team Leader and Acting Director of Studies at NIPSS, Barrister Nima Salman, said the visit formed part of the study tour for Senior Executive Course 48, which seeks to examine the cultural values and heritage of Kebbi State.
She presented requests from the Director-General of NIPSS, including an invitation for Governor Idris to attend the presentation of the SEC 48 course report and the turbaning ceremony of Professor Muhammad Bande as the District Head of Besse.
The 2026 Senior Executive Course 48 is themed “The Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria,” also framed as “Leveraging the Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Growth in Nigeria.”
