President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sworn in Mr Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), succeeding Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retired after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the State House in Abuja and witnessed by the Permanent Secretary, State House, Temitope Fashedemi, alongside other senior government officials.
Enitan’s appointment, which took effect on August 27, 2026, was announced by the Presidency on August 19.
Before his appointment, Enitan served as Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education and was the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
His appointment places him at the helm of Nigeria’s public service administration, where he is expected to provide leadership in strengthening efficiency, professionalism and effective service delivery across the Federal Civil Service.
Enitan succeeds Walson-Jack, who served as Head of the Civil Service of the Federation until her retirement after reaching the mandatory retirement age.
