The Gama Patriotic Movement Forum, in partnership with the Know Your Neighbor Community Initiative, has launched a community sensitization campaign aimed at strengthening security and promoting peaceful coexistence in Gama B Ward, Kano State.
The campaign, which took place at Sabuwar Kasuwa, brought together security agencies, traditional leaders, community elders, and youths to discuss practical ways of addressing security challenges in the area.
Speaking during the event, the Secretary of the Gama Patriotic Movement Forum, Auwal Abdulsalam Muhammad, said the initiative was designed to deepen cooperation between residents and security agencies.
He stressed that community participation remains critical to achieving effective security, urging residents to remain vigilant and support security personnel with timely information.

Also speaking, the Secretary of the Know Your Neighbor Community Initiative, Mustapha Habib Abbas, explained that the campaign focuses on encouraging residents to be more conscious of activities within their neighborhoods, particularly unfamiliar movements.
He added that promoting unity, mutual care, and proper moral guidance for children would go a long way in preventing crime and sustaining peace.
A community elder, Dr. Sani Sule, raised concerns over the increasing involvement of youths in drug abuse, describing it as a major threat to security and social stability in the community.

Representatives of security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Zonal Commandant, Dr. Ibrahim Ilyas, and the Anti-Corruption Nasarawa Divisional Officer, assured participants of their readiness to collaborate closely with the community to tackle security challenges.
In his remarks, the Village Head of Gama commended the organizers for the initiative, expressing optimism that sustained collaboration between residents and security agencies would position Gama as a model of peace and security in Kano State and beyond.
