The Kano State Fire Service has recorded significant achievements in emergency response, rescuing eight persons and saving property worth N34 billion from 100 fire-related incidents in February.
The Public Relations Officer of the Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, disclosed this while briefing journalists on Tuesday in Kano.
He, however, noted that despite the successes, seven persons lost their lives during the period, while property valued at N8.5 billion was destroyed in various fire outbreaks across the state.
Abdullahi further revealed that the Service responded to nine emergency calls and recorded five false alarms from residents within the month under review.
He called on members of the public to adopt proper fire safety measures and handle fire-related activities with caution to help reduce the occurrence of fire disasters.
The spokesperson also stressed the need for greater public cooperation and awareness to support the Service’s ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property.
