The National Population Commission, NPC, has formally welcomed its newly appointed Director-General, Dr. Abuh Mohammed, with the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Aminu Yusuf, pledging the full cooperation and support of management and staff to the new leadership.
The Chairman gave the assurance during a reception held at the Commission’s headquarters to welcome Dr. Mohammed.
Dr. Yusuf said the Honourable Federal Commissioners, management and staff were committed to working with the new Director-General as one team to strengthen coordination, improve efficiency, embrace innovation and ensure responsible management of the Commission’s resources.
He urged members of staff to extend the necessary professional support and cooperation to the new leadership, calling on them to share their knowledge and experience, provide constructive ideas and work collectively to address challenges facing the Commission.
The Chairman described the appointment of Dr. Mohammed as a fresh opportunity to strengthen ongoing efforts and advance the mandate of the National Population Commission.
Responding, the new Director-General thanked the Chairman, Federal Commissioners, management and staff for the warm reception.
Dr. Mohammed pledged to work with the team to transform the Commission and advance its mandate.
He assumed office on July 27, 2026, succeeding the immediate past Director-General, Dr. Osifo Tellson Ojogun.
His appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on July 20, 2026, for an initial four-year term.
The National Population Commission congratulated Dr. Mohammed and wished him a successful tenure.
