The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kano State Command, has arrested a 45-year-old suspected accomplice in a motorcycle theft syndicate and recovered a suspected stolen motorcycle and other incriminating items in Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified as Mustafa Sani, was arrested at his residence in Gaida, Abacha Street, following credible intelligence linking him to the activities of a suspected motorcycle theft syndicate operating within Kano metropolis.
The Command said the operation followed the tracking of a motorcycle with registration number GRR 958 QB from Jigawa State to the suspect’s residence.
During a search of the premises, NSCDC operatives recovered a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen from the premises of a hospital at Rijiyar Zaki, along Gwarzo Road, Kano.
Other items recovered include 11 registered motorcycle number plates, six screwdrivers, three pliers and three bunches of motorcycle keys, suspected to belong to stolen motorcycles.
The Command said the principal suspect, identified as Mansur Nasir Khalil, also known as “S-Guy,” is currently at large, adding that a manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.
The Kano State Commandant of NSCDC, Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama, commended the operatives for their vigilance and intelligence-led operation.
He assured residents that the Command would continue to intensify efforts to dismantle criminal networks involved in motorcycle theft and other forms of criminality across the state.
Commandant Agalama urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with useful information that could assist in preventing and detecting crime.
He added that the arrested suspect would undergo thorough investigation and, upon completion of the process, be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
