The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, has distributed 47 cars and 282 motorcycles to party chairmen,their secretaries and political groups in Kano North as part of efforts to empower party members and promote self-reliance.
The distribution exercise took place on Wednesday in Kano, drawing party stakeholders and beneficiaries from across the zone.
Flagging off the programme,the Chief of Staff to the Deputy President of the Senate, Professor Muhammad Bn Abdullahi,described the empowerment initiatives of Barau Jibrin as a capital-intensive intervention aimed at lifting beneficiaries out of poverty and promoting self-reliance.
He noted that, the Kano North Senatorial District is fortunate to have a leader who consistently distributes resources designed to stimulate human development and improve livelihoods.
He added that ongoing criticisms and attacks against Senator Barau Jibrin are not a cause for concern, as those behind them lack credibility and are driven by ulterior motives.
The Chief of Staff also urged beneficiaries of the distributed cars and motorcycles to make productive use of the items, emphasizing that they should serve as tools for income generation rather than being sold.
In his welcome address, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Deputy Senate President, Hon. Shitu Madaki, who doubles as APC Chairman in Ghari Local Government Area, said the initiative was aimed at enhancing the economic capacity of beneficiaries.

He explained that the intervention covered a wide range of party stakeholders, including zonal and state executives, headmasters and principals from Kano North, as well as special reporters within the zone.
Madaki added that the initiative forms part of broader efforts by Senator Barau to tackle unemployment and ensure constituents benefit from the dividends of democracy.
He disclosed that the Deputy Senate President currently engages over 5,000 legislative aides, alongside other empowerment programmes.

Also speaking, the APC Kano North Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Lamba, highlighted the lawmaker’s contributions to education, noting that he has facilitated scholarship opportunities for students both within Nigeria and abroad.
According to him, other interventions by Senator Barau include the upgrade of Kabo Polytechnic to a university and the transformation of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Kano into a Federal University of Education.
He hinted that the lawmaker has also supported students with allowances, provided classroom infrastructure, and distributed educational materials.

Lamba further listed additional empowerment initiatives such as the distribution of fertilisers and improved seeds, livestock support, and the provision of grinding and sewing machines to boost small-scale businesses.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Hajiya Yar Dada Maikano Bichi, described Senator Barau as a committed party leader who has earned the confidence of Bola Tinubu through his loyalty and dedication to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
She reaffirmed the commitment of women in the zone to support the APC in future elections, expressing confidence in continued political success for the party.
The empowerment programme highlights ongoing efforts by the Deputy Senate President to strengthen grassroots support and improve the livelihoods of constituents in Kano North.
