The Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Jibril Ismail Falgore, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Government, traders, and residents affected by the recent fire outbreak at the popular Singa Market in Kano metropolis.
In a statement issued on Sunday and signed by his spokesperson, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai, the Speaker described the incident as devastating and unfortunate, noting that it destroyed shops and goods worth billions of naira.
Falgore expressed deep sorrow over the losses suffered by traders and their families, emphasizing that the Kano State House of Assembly shares in their pain during this difficult time.
“It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that, on behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, we extend our sympathies to the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the fire incident,” he said.
He urged members of the business community and the public to remain calm and cooperate fully with emergency responders working to manage the aftermath of the disaster.
The Speaker also commended firefighters and security agencies for their swift response in tackling the blaze, noting that their timely intervention helped to contain the situation.
Falgore, however, called on relevant authorities to urgently provide modern firefighting equipment and strengthen emergency response systems to prevent and effectively manage similar incidents in the future.
“On behalf of the Kano State House of Assembly, we pray for resilience, succour, and strength for all those affected by this tragic incident,” he added.
The Singa Market fire is the latest in a series of market fires in Kano, raising concerns about fire safety measures and emergency preparedness in major commercial centres across the state.
