The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Maruf Alausa, has commended the WOFAN–Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) SIBLING Project at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), describing it as a strategic initiative for equipping students with practical agricultural and entrepreneurial skills.
Dr. Alausa gave the commendation during an inspection visit to the project site, where he expressed satisfaction with the level of investment and its potential to transform students through hands-on agricultural training.
The Minister, who was accompanied by the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, said the initiative would promote entrepreneurship, enhance self-reliance and prepare graduates with practical skills needed for national development.
Earlier, the Director of the Centre for Dryland Agriculture, Professor Sanusi Gaya Mohammed, briefed the ministers on the objectives and implementation of the WOFAN–CDA SIBLING Project.
He also conducted the delegation round the Centre’s screen house, highlighting its contributions to agricultural research, seedling production and practical training for students.
The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, accompanied by other principal officers of the university, joined the ministers during the inspection of the project facilities.
