The Kwankwasiyya Movement has urged its members and supporters to remain calm following the omission of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Kano State governorship candidate, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, and his running mate, Mustapha Rabi’u Kwankwaso, from the final list of candidates published by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Movement made the appeal in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Dr. Habibu Sale Mohammed, expressing concern over the development and calling on supporters to avoid speculation while efforts are made to resolve the matter through appropriate administrative and legal channels.

According to the statement, information available to the Movement indicates that Gwarzo registered with the NDC within the stipulated period. It added that it was not aware of any court case or judicial order identified as the basis for the candidates’ omission from the published list.
The Movement said the circumstances surrounding the omission required INEC to provide a clear explanation and give the matter the necessary attention.
It also drew attention to Section 32(2) of the Electoral Act 2026, which it said provides a 14-day window for a political party to notify INEC in writing, accompanied by an affidavit, where the name of its nominated candidate is missing.
The statement urged the NDC leadership and the candidate’s legal representatives to examine the provision and pursue the appropriate remedies, where applicable, within the time allowed by law.

It further advised the party to assemble relevant documents, including evidence of timely registration, candidate nomination, submission of particulars and official acknowledgements, to support its request for rectification.
The Movement maintained that if the relevant records establish compliance with the applicable requirements and the omission is administrative, it expects the Commission to address the matter transparently and take any corrective action permitted by law.
However, it stressed that it would not prejudge INEC’s formal position or the outcome of any legal proceedings, noting that the matter should be resolved through due process, verifiable evidence and lawful remedies.
The Movement also cautioned its members against panic, confrontation and the circulation of unverified information, urging them to continue their lawful political activities while the leadership monitors developments.
It reaffirmed its commitment to constitutional democracy, electoral justice and the rule of law, calling on INEC to clarify the circumstances surrounding the omission without unnecessary delay.

“Our message to our supporters is simple: remain calm, remain law-abiding and remain confident in the lawful process,” the statement said.
