The Kaduna State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (LPRES) has commenced the distribution of 38 milking machines to pastoralist communities and small- and medium-scale dairy farmers across the state. The intervention is aimed at improving milk production, milking efficiency and hygienic milk handling among beneficiaries. The distribution follows a series of capacity-building sessions where beneficiaries were trained on improved milk production practices, hygienic handling of milk, and the proper operation and maintenance of the milking machines. Kano State has recorded a 9.2 per cent increase in the number of candidates who obtained at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, in the 2026 National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination, with an education advocate attributing the improvement partly to sustained investment in the sector.
