The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr Abbas Tajudeen, has commissioned four development projects in Zaria Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.

The projects include a 110 KVA solar power installation at the Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Congo Campus, the Zaria Education Development Association International Conference Centre, a Modern Skills Acquisition Centre and an office complex for the National Directorate of Employment, NDE.
Speaking during the commissioning, Dr Abbas Tajudeen said the projects were designed to provide reliable electricity for essential services, create a befitting venue for learning and public discourse, and provide opportunities for skills acquisition and job creation.
He explained that the interventions were deliberately extended to health centres, schools, security posts, mosques and churches where reliable electricity was needed.

The Speaker said youths from Zaria had also been trained to install and maintain the solar facilities to ensure sustainability and develop local technical capacity.
According to him, the Skills Acquisition Centre, when completed, will equip young men and women with practical skills that will enable them earn sustainable livelihoods.
The Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Professor Adamu Ahmed, commended the Speaker for his interventions in the university.
Professor Ahmed disclosed that the university spends about three hundred million naira monthly on electricity, adding that the solar power intervention was expected to reduce the cost by about one-third.

In a message, the Emir of Zazzau, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, represented by the Wazirin Zazzau, Khadi Muhammad Inuwa Aminu, described the Speaker as a proud son of the Zazzau Emirate whose interventions extend beyond the constituency.
He appealed to the National Assembly to support universities in developing their own power-generation capacity to enable them provide reliable electricity to their host communities.
