The Kano State Hisbah Board has banned the business of downloading and distributing movies through mobile phones across the state as part of efforts to promote moral values and uphold Islamic principles.
The Deputy Commander General of the Kano State Hisbah Board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen Abubakar, stated this to newsmen.
According to him,the decision followed allegations that some operators of the business were circulating immoral films and video content considered contrary to Islamic teachings and the cultural values of the Hausa community.
He explained that the directive takes immediate effect, adding that Hisbah personnel have been deployed to monitor compliance through routine patrols and enforcement operations across the state.
The Deputy Commander General warned that anyone found violating the directive would face legal action in accordance with the laws of Kano State.
He also urged those engaged in the business to embrace other lawful means of livelihood, stressing that the measure is aimed at safeguarding the moral upbringing of young people and curbing the spread of content capable of undermining societal values.
