The Provost of Aminu Kano College of Islamic and Legal Studies (AKCILS), Professor Balarabe Abubakar Jakada (Majidadin Kauran Katsina), who also serves as Chairman of the Forum of Heads of Kano State-Owned Tertiary Institutions, has led members of the Forum on a congratulatory visit to the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University, Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Jakada stated that the Forum organized the meeting to formally congratulate Professor Bayero on her well-deserved appointment.
He noted that the gesture aligns with the Forum’s long-standing tradition of collectively welcoming and congratulating heads of institutions appointed by the Kano State Government.
According to Professor Jakada, the Forum has remained united and proactive since its inception, embarking on initiatives aimed at collective development and institutional advancement across state-owned tertiary institutions.
He highlighted two major priority projects currently being pursued:
Provision of alternative power supply across tertiary institutions in Kano State. A committee has been constituted, funds raised, and experts engaged for the final execution of the project.
Ensuring that state-owned tertiary institutions fully benefit from the Kano State Government’s declaration of a state of emergency in the education sector. The visit also provided an opportunity to seek Professor Bayero’s input and collaboration for the successful realization of these objectives.
In her response, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero expressed appreciation to the Forum’s leadership and members for the visit. She emphasized that, as state-owned institutions, they share common goals and responsibilities toward educational development in Kano State.
Professor Bayero assured the Forum of her commitment to sustain the cordial and productive relationships established by her predecessor, Professor Atiku Kurawa, and pledged support for initiatives that would further strengthen collaboration among tertiary institutions in the state.
