Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced plans to immortalise two members of the Kano State House of Assembly who passed away while serving the state.
The disclosure was made during the 36th State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.
The announcement came at the same meeting where the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ismail Jibril Falgore, formally presented the 2026 Budget Estimate Document to the governor for executive assent.
Governor Yusuf expressed deep condolences to the leadership of the State Assembly, the families of the deceased lawmakers, and the people of Kano State over the loss of Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo (NNPP–Ungogo), Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji (NNPP–Municipal), Chairman of the House Committee on Hajj.
The governor noted that the late Hon. Sa’adu Ungogo made his final contribution to the development of the state through his tireless efforts in ensuring the completion of the 2026 budget estimate for legislative consideration.
“The dedication and commitment these two legislators demonstrated towards the growth and development of Kano State cannot be overstated,” Governor Yusuf said.
A special prayer session was held during the council meeting for the repose of the souls of the deceased lawmakers. The prayers were led by the Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sheikh Tijjani Auwal, and the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Haruna Ali Makoda.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the bereaved families and preserving the legislative legacies of the late lawmakers through the effective implementation of the 2026 budget.
